Hello friends of Whispering Pines,
We want to share an update with you of our plan for Summer 2020.
Unfortunately due to the continuation of gathering restrictions we will not be able to host camps this summer. We had previously announced that we were waiting until the beginning of June to make this decision, however after the announcement on April 23rd from the provincial government it seemed right to make the decision earlier than planned.
Despite this major setback we are looking for alternatives to the regular summer camp experience so please keep an eye out for updates from Whispering Pines on our website, Facebook, and our Email newsletter. This summer has a lot of potential for growth in other ways for us. There are many maintenance projects we can take on this year and we will be posting on our website about our goals and needs.
In order to be able to grow through this season we need your support. We are doing our best to cut costs and reduce our expenses to be prepared for our next season. In order for us to continue operating through this year we will need to raise $68,000 to pay for our facility costs, prepare for next season, and help us stay out of debt. We are applying for all the available government aid programs and are hopeful that this will help us meet our funding goals for the year.
There are a lot of ways that you can still support us and get involved this summer! We are planning to make some of our activities such as archery, pelletry, RC cars, hiking trails and frisbee golf available by reservation for families or small groups to use by donation. We will also be selling camp branded clothing from our website. If you have already registered for camp you can give all or part of your registration fee as a donation for a charitable receipt. The donation portal on our website is the easiest way to give.
Whispering Pines Camp exists to create a place where kids feel safe, loved, and valued and where they can be impacted by the truth of the Gospel and begin a relationship with Jesus. Even through this challenging season let’s pull together and make sure that we can have a great place for kids to begin and grow a relationship with Jesus in the years to come.
We are so thankful to have such a strong community supporting us and we want you to know that we appreciate you all. We cannot continue to do this work without your help. We pray for your continued health and safety in this difficult season. We will continue to keep you updated with any changes or prayer requests.
God bless,
Denver and Julie Knodel
